eRead Illinois
Do you read ebooks? The library is considering participation in a grant to increase access to digital material in Illinois libraries. The project is called eRead Illinois and the goal is to expand existing programs like MyMediaMall which currently provides digital content to our patrons. Stay tuned for more information!

Affordable Care Act
If you have questions regarding the Affordable Care Act stop by the library for a brochure about the new program and how it affects Illinois consumers. Summer Reading Challenge
The Summer Reading Challenge for children of all ages continues at the Melvin Library through July and into August. Kids can win prizes by reading books and recording them in their book logs. New books are being added to the collection every month including "The Fault in Our Stars," a bestselling novel for young adults by John Green.

Cheryl Kurtenbach Honored
At the Monday, April 22 Library Board Meeting outgoing President Cheryl Kurtenbach was honored for her years of service. Cheryl was first elected to the board in 1985 and has served as a library trustee for 28 years. She has also been board president since 1999. Cheryl will continue to lead the library book club The Pageturners on the second Monday of each month and we wish her well in all endeavors!

A great big thank you to all the supporters who came out to vote in the general election on April 9. We are so pleased to have the referendum to increase the library's maximum taxing rate pass by such a big margin. We are fortunate to serve this community.

New Movies
Four new DVD movies have just arrived at the library and may be checked out at no charge. Titles are Despicable Me, Katy Perry The Movie, Men in Black 3 and Sparkle with Whitney Houston.

New Library Catalog
Countdown to the transition for our new library automation program has begun! Beginning Friday, March 15, no interlibrary loans can be placed or will be filled from our current LINC catalog. April 9 is the go live date for our new systemwide catalog, SHARE. In the meantime library staff can place holds for patrons using the statewide or worldwide catalog. Tax Forms
The 1040s have arrived! The federal tax forms 1040 and instruction booklets are all now available at the library. There was a printing delay this tax season but all basic state and federal forms are now here and specialized forms can be downloaded and printed for you at no cost.

Tax Forms
The arrival of tax forms in the library has been delayed this year, several forms and booklets have not yet been printed according to messages from the IRS. We have just received an email that they expect the 1040 material to arrive in about 5 days.
Meanwhile, we do have the 1040EZ and 1040A forms as well as the standard Illinois forms available.
